Welcome to the all-new Progressive Grange website. Our chapter of the Grange is so proud to be in our 96th year and we continue to thrive. When the grange began all those years ago, it was a sought after organization but in recent years, membership and community involvement has declined. When most groups would throw in the towel, we are determined to grow.
The Youth Are Our Future
With our Grange being housed in a small town, you would think that everyone knows about us but that’s not the case. In recent months, I have spoken to many people in the community and told them about the Grange and almost all of them have never heard of it. This saddened me because it’s such a rewarding group to be a part of, especially for a little farming community like New Athens.
When I joined the Grange, I did so with a mission. I wanted to revive the youth program that had fallen to the wayside. Without the young people, there is no hope for the chapter’s future.
I know you’re probably wondering what the point would be to joining. With 4H and FFA, why join another farming club? I wondered the same thing. There are many similarities between the three organizations but the Grange is not only a farming organization but also plays a very large part in agricultural legislation. So as part of the Grange Youth Program, you will have the opportunity, before you can even vote, to suggest and take part in implementing laws that impact local farming directly.
On the flip side, there are many ideas floating around in my head of fun and exciting activities to do as we get the program running. From dances and craft nights, to sports events and family fun, we will have fun activities for everyone.
How Much Will It Cost Me?
This is always the golden question. How much is it going to cost? Compared to many other clubs and organizations, the membership costs are quite minimal. Averaging from $30-40 a year, its completely worth the price. And we even have family discount deals. Contact us for more details.
I could go on and on about the benefits of joining this organization but then we wouldn’t have anything to talk about later on. Lol. So think about it and come check us out in June for our Open Enrollment meeting. Until then, stay tuned here for fun information.
Talk to you soon,
